Minimize Risks, Get Informed

Before you head outdoors, it is wise to prepare for and minimize the risks associated with your chosen activity. AdventureSmart is a valuable resource to help you understand and reduce the risks of participating in outdoor recreational pursuits.

Sample script—Hello and welcome. It’s great to see so many people here this evening. Whether you are new to paddling or you have lots of experience, you are obviously interested in learning more about how to be safer out there by being aware and being prepared.

This presentation was developed as a partnership between AdventureSmart—which is a Canada-wide initiative to help people “get informed and go outdoors”—and Paddle Canada, Canada’s national paddle sports training organization. This is one of many information / education sessions being offered in an effort to promote healthy, active living in our beautiful country while decreasing the frequency, severity and duration of search and rescue incidents.
